2D fabrication

After 10 days of trial and error, fighting constantly with adobe illustrator and bubbles the laser printer, Cheyenne and my 2D creation finally came to life and stood on its four legs! This project was frustrating and so rewarding to see the final product and the magical potential of laser printing. We wanted to make this form feel organic, so we used vectors of our sketches from CAC and processes and structures. All forms seen on our object were hand drawn or carved by Cheyenne or I.  We were interested in making a lantern and how laser cuts can create different shadows, so we made four panels and interlocked them.  Early experimentation with sketches engraved on wood.                                                                       Final product.
