Fuzzy Winter Stopmotion
Fuzzy Winter
Joyce, Chenyu, and I made a stop motion together. It was all of our first time doing stop motion/animation. After the mini class assignment we were inspired to build a world using a combination of our different arts backgrounds. We used this winter in New York City as inspiration to build two settings, one cozy indoor one, and one outside one. I wrote the script after we discussed our ideas for the fuzzball characters we each created. Chenyu was previously working as a freelance photographer and had a tripod and several different kinds of lighting equipment. We really enjoyed creating this story and stopmotion. We had to experiment and problem solve together along the way. After spending the weekend collaborating at the Conversations Across Cultures workshops, we had another long night together of sharing ideas and feeding off each other's creativity!
Mila, Joyce, and Chenyu! Your animation project left me feeling all warm and fuzzy (and not just because of the fuzzballs). It put a smile on my face to see you all make something together. I can tell, despite the sleep deprivation, that you had a lot of fun making this and your animation reminds me of the stopmotions I used to watch on YouTube in middle school. I love your idea to combine all your different art backgrounds and I can see the material connection to Conversations Across Cultures. I hope you guys add on to your storyline in the future because now I’m invested in the fuzzballs’ lives. Other things I enjoyed: the voice acting (very entertaining), and the set design (very detailed)!
