Logo design


For my project I decided to use Canva. I selected the blue sun/star shape as both a symbol of earth but also a badge of protection like you would see on a sheriff. I selected the green line as an indication of both motion through earth but also of inequality, and the steps taken by migrant families to become acclimated. I made a simple line drawing of a silhouette of a mother and child. It could be interpreted in several ways. I enjoyed this process. I am a guardian to a migrant child and am passionate about this issue. The blue is 'vivid indigo' #1800ad, the green is 'grass green' #7ed957 and yellowish gold is #feae1a.

    Hi Mila, I really love the combination of lines, shapes, and colors you used! The yellowish gold and vivid indigo look so good together and it looks perfect for a summer t-shirt.     Hi Mila, This feels really powerful and intentional, and the symbolism comes through so clearly. I love how the badge shape, the movement line, and the figures all work together without feeling crowded, and the color palette is striking. It would be really interesting to see you try a few variations in scale or composition, since the idea is already so strong.

For this video project I used a combination of footage I took of the Hudson River this winter, videos I already had of the Adriatic, and drawings I made over the course of the winter. I also used AI generated video from Google Flow to animate my drawings, and edited everything together in CapCut. I thought of the piece as a kind of moving collage, where different places, memories, and textures could sit on top of each other. I referenced the underwater scene from the 1984 movie  Splash, which  was a big part of my childhood. I remember a period when mermaids felt really present in culture and in the female imagination, with many mermaid tv shows and movies. Mermaids felt very present in both external and internal worlds as a child. Living by the Hudson, I'm really fascinated by the river.  Scratch project that I found inspiring  https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/815295801/fullscreen/ I'm not really a fan of the aesthetics of scratch but I enjoy the idea that you can build an object that develops it's own consciousness and ideas, for instance in this case, this train or truck experiencing a dream of itself flying. After some uninspiring experimentation with scratch, for my project I decided to try out vibe coding. I was curious just how quickly and smoothly something could be created this way. I used the program base 44 and put in a short query. I was surprised at just how well it created my idea with just a bit of information. Feeling a bit like I cheated on this assignment!
