Final Project: Digital Photography, Crafts, and Voice
For my project, I experimented with different ways of transferring digital photography onto fabric. I used three methods: cyanotype, screen printing, and photo transfer with acrylic medium. This image shows my cyanotype process, where I took advantage of a single sunny day to produce multiple prints. I worked with images I’m drawn to, including digital collages and scenography I created for this course. There was a lot of trial and error in printing these images onto clear transfers so they could function as stencils. I also incorporated natural materials like flowers and leaves, along with sequins, to build a kind of real-time collage. I experimented with variables like light, time of day, and exposure length, as well as different washing methods. Using hydrogen peroxide deepened the blue significantly.
